LAMBHILL GARAGE BUYS HYDRALOADER 7000 OFF THE DYSON STAND AT THE TOW SHOW

Arthur & Vanessa Murdoch with their Hydraloader 7000 from Roger Dyson GroupArthur Murdoch of Lambhill Garage Ltd was a man with a mission when he arrived in Telford for the opening day of the European Tow Show. He needed a new Accident Unit but didn’t intend to buy one unless he had seen it in the metal and had an opportunity to ‘kick the tyres’.

He was replacing a trusty 10-year-old Dyson Hydraloader unit, but looked around the other stands first to see what the competition had to offer. When he eventually visited the Roger Dyson Group stand, there was a new Hydraloader 7000 Removal Unit on display, and it was for sale!

After Arthur had kicked the tyres and his wife had climbed into the cab to check out the driving position, he negotiated a part-exchange allowance for his existing Dyson unit and shook hands with Roger Dyson.

Commenting on the deal Arthur says his existing Dyson Accident Unit, which is one of ten Dyson vehicles (the others are three spec-lifts and six slideback vehicles) in his 23-strong fleet, has given excellent service over the past ten years.

“When you buy from Roger you buy quality.” He says: “However, it still made sense to see whether other manufacturers had raised their game in the last ten years, and the Tow Show gave me that opportunity. In the end, I didn’t see anything that improved on the latest Hydraloader 7000 so I bought the one off the stand.”

He says the features that sealed the deal include a good crane with a self-levelling facility to avoid damage to vehicles being lifted, and like many of Lambhill’s fleet the Hydraloader is mounted onto a Ford Cargo chassis, which makes servicing easier.

With a few accessories and the livery applied, the new unit will be operational in two weeks, helping the Cullompton-based recovery company to service customers such as the AA, RAC, Green Flag, Britannia and the Devon Constabulary. Arthur estimates that in an area including the M5 and Devon’s cathedral city of Exeter, the Hydraloader 7000 will handle around 130 removals each month for Lambhill’s police contract and club work.
