CONCRETE 4U BUYS SECOND MEK-TEK MOBILE BATCHING PLANT

When Lightwater Quarries decided to diversify into ready-mix concrete sales operating as Concrete 4U, the company bought a 10m3 Mek-Tek MBP10® volumetric mobile batching plant. Two years later the enterprise has been so successful that a second MBP10® has recently been delivered.

Lightwater Quarries is already supplying customers with concrete aggregate from its two limestone quarries in Yorkshire, but decided that it could also produce concrete for sale to the public without affecting its existing business.

Commenting for Concrete 4U, Kevin Parker says the company tries to source equipment locally and buy British whenever it can, adding that, as there was only one British manufacturer of volumetric mobile batching plant they felt the trip to Mek-Tek in Gloucestershire was worth making.

The company bought its first Mek-Tek MBP10® because it was British made and, as it was running just one vehicle, felt it was important to have a UK source for spare parts and service.

“We needn’t have worried,” He says: “because the MBP10® was very reliable and when we did occasionally need support Mek-Tek was there the next day and stayed until the truck was sorted.”

No wonder then, that the company had no hesitation in ordering a second truck. But as Kevin says, when they visited the factory again they were also very impressed with the new MBP10®, which he says operates even faster and produces a better concrete mix.

“It’s very encouraging to know that Mek-Tek has continued to develop what was already a very efficient and reliable machine.” He says adding that, in the new model, hydraulic power has replaced the previous higher maintenance chains and sprockets, which should make it even more reliable.

The Mek-Tek MBP range is available in 4, 6 and 10 m3 delivered capacities. All models are equipped as standard with a number of unique safety features and can be supplied with a range of options that allow operators to provide third party accreditation for customers.

The range is competitively priced compared to imported vehicles, can be covered by a three year warranty with maintenance contract, and backed by a national customer support team providing service, spares and maintenance. Mek-Tek can also supply static batching plants and silos, and provide a design, engineering and project management service.
