FULTON SUPPLIES SKID MOUNTED SYSTEM FOR HOSPITAL PPP PROJECT
M&E contractor Geoffrey Robinson Limited has specified a dual-fuel, skid-mounted boiler system from Fulton Boiler Works to provide essential steam as part of its public private partnership (PPP) contract for the Friarage Hospital’s energy services.
The boiler system, which comprises two 50J boilers operating on duty and standby, was designed by Fulton with input from Geoffrey Robinson to reduce energy costs as much as possible. It is monitored by building management services links and operates unmanned, requiring only occasional service and maintenance visits from the M&E contractor.
Following a review of a water analysis report of the area by both companies, the system was fitted with a reverse osmosis water treatment plant instead of the standard water softener and chemical dosage system in order to significantly reduce the amount of blowdown (waste heat and water).
Commenting for the M&E contractor, project director Neal Robinson says: “We have been specifying Fulton equipment since our company was started by my father in 1971, so we know they can be relied upon to provide a quality system and excellent service.
“This is the first PPP project we have undertaken, so we needed to be sure that, like us, the boiler system would be capable of providing steam services to the local NHS Trust for the contracted 15 years.”
All packaged and skid mounted systems are prepared and fully tested in Fulton’s Bristol factory to the PM5 standard of control for unmanned plant rooms, and are CE certified as a factory built assembly. They can be delivered to site and installed on a prepared concrete base and connected to existing site services, even in the most complicated environments or where access is limited.
Commenting on one of the major advantages of specifying its boilers, Fulton’s sales and marketing director Gordon Bareham says: “Unlike many manufacturers, we take overall responsibility for projects within our ‘Total Service’ package, from initial design, through to production, delivery, commissioning and after-sales support from our nationwide service organisation.”
